Hospice Services Administration
AHS provided administrative services for the Louisiana Medicaid Hospice Program
from 2010 – 2012. Services provided as part of this work included:
- Comprehensive reviews of all Notice of Elections and Certifications of Terminal
Illness,
- Verification of Recipient Eligibility,
- Research of Eligibility Status,
- Comprehensive Data Entry for all Required Forms and Documentation,
- Document Scanning and Imaging,
- Mailings, and
- Prior Authorization Services (including receiving and reviewing all forms and documentation,
contacting hospice providers for additional medical documentation, determining approval
or denial, preparing summary reports, etc.).
Through AHS’ administration of this program, we improved the reporting provided
to the State, developed analyses and reporting to track the impact of new policy
changes, reinforced policy, and decreased the processing time for prior authorization
review. As a result, we earned high praise from hospice providers who appreciated
AHS’ timeliness.
