Managed Care Prison Transition

AHS is an innovator in the development of healthcare access services for released prisoners.

As part of our Ohio Medicaid Hotline Contract, we worked with our client in launching the Pre-Release Prison Transition Program that allows offenders who will soon be released from prison to select a health plan. The Pre-Release Prison Transition Program has resulted in significant clinical and financial savings to our client.

In 2014, we coordinated with our client to implement choice counseling through trained volunteers. This work included determining a call schedule, providing us with files and gaining access to relevant state databases to provide us with demographic information on all offenders. As part of this program, we provided prisons with keyless telephones that automatically dial the Ohio Medicaid Hotline. Our telephony system was updated so that when we receive calls from the prisons, the calls are routed directly to a CSR and bypass the queue. The program has been tremendously successful and all prisons in the State currently participate in the Pre-Release Prison Transition Program.

“Automated Health Systems offers a unique and real life experience through its Human Resources Internship. As an intern in a small department, you not only witness, but also experience firsthand the fast paced and always changing field of Human Resources. Automated Health Systems involves their interns in both the daily tasks of an HR Department and their current projects and programs, giving an intern experiences that are impossible to gain through a classroom alone. Internship experience is a vital part of a student’s professional development, and Automated Health Systems provides experiences, knowledge, abilities and skills that are readily applicable in any Human Resources career.”
